Wind Chimes

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Which chimes are the most common?

Among the styles of wind chimes commercially available, tubular varieties are most common.
  2. Can I keep my chimes out all year long?

Yes, with one consideration. Heavy winds may cause the tubes to impact each other with more force than usually desired, causing denting or scratching. Please protect your chimes from heavy winds.
  3. Do you refurbish or repair chimes?

Unfortunately, we are not able to handle repairs or refurbishing.
  4. What is the best way to hang my chimes?

Wind likes to whip around walled structures, so corners and walls often prove to be the best locations for a chime. If you hang your chime from a hook or bracket, please make sure that the chime has sufficient swinging clearance from the walled structure. A strong rope or a chain thrown over a low limb of a tree and a shepherd’s hook staked in the ground are other ways to hang your chime. You may need to experiment to find the best suitable area for your chimes.
  5. I want to make my own chimes. Can I just purchase the aluminum tubing?

We do not offer individual tubes for resale. We only offer complete chimes.
  6. How can I determine the sound a chime will produce?

The number of tubes in a set of chimes will vary, and the tubes will vary in length and diameter. This is because according to the metal utilized in their construction, tubes vibrate and bend in various directions when they are struck by an object, or against each other. Where tubes are all the same length, the ones with a greater diameter will produce the higher tones. However, the longer the tube, the lower the frequency of the sound.
  7. I make wind chimes, and would like to find out if you would be interested in selling them on your site. How would I go about doing so?

Please see the procedure of product submission on our web site.
  8. Where did chimes originate?

Windchimes have existed in various forms for thousands of years, but most historians agree chimes originated in Asia, in the 5 th century B.C.
  9. Should I check with my Home Owner’s Association prior to purchasing a windchime?

Every HOA has different rules and regulations. It would be a good idea to check with them first.
  10. I have heard of wind chimes being a part of Feng Shui. What is Feng Shui?

Feng Shui is the ancient Chinese art of design and placement of objects in homes and businesses. One foundational tenet of Feng Shui philosophy is that everything in the universe creates and moves “chi” or energy. According to this philosophy, precise placement of wind chimes and other calming accessories, such as fountains, in and around one’s living space will increase good (positive) chi and dispel bad or negative chi; the balance and cleansing of chi will purportedly bring peace, prosperity and harmony to the life force in that area.
